about gpk

Photography involves a lot of complex variables. Focal length, f-stops, aperture, depth of field, shutter speed, zoom lens, wide angle lens, macro lens, film speed, etc. So many things to pay attention to...or ignore.

For me, photography has always been about right time, right places. And of course, having my camera with me.

Posed pictures, portraits, etc. just are not my speciality. The more time I have to think about a photo shoot, the more likely I'll be disappointed with the outcome. It's better if my subjects, human or otherwise, are unaware of my camera and I. Capturing animals (again, human or otherwise) acting naturally in their natural habitat has become my specialty.

I can't guarantee that any of the photos on this website are technical masterpieces. Rather, they are what they are...a portrait of a moment in time as I saw it. No more, no less. If you need to reach me, contact me here.

All the photos I've published here were taken with one of three cameras: a Minolta SRT 101 that I purchased for $25 from a pawn shop, a Fuji FinePix 4900, and a Canon EOS 10D. With each camera I typically use a zoom lens and occasionally, with the Minolta and the Canon, a wide angle lens as well. For scanning, I use a Umax Powerlook 1100 and all photos were color corrected with Adobe Photoshop.
